Help Recovering a File SOLVED THANKS!

So, I've been working on a game for several months now, and as I go to open it today, it displays, "Failed to load game due to the following errors: *Invalid XML: Root element is missing."

I have more than two hundred rooms and most of the background work done for this game. How do I recover this? Or should I simply accept all my work is gone, and do my best not to spew expletives at random passers-by?

Thanks in advance!

Hello.

Did you recently edit in full code view by any chance?

Not in full code, no. I took a look through it once, but iirc I closed and restarted it since doing that with no issues.

Try opening the file in a text editor, and see if your data is there. If so, you should be able to repair it.

If you're not confident manually fixing XML, possibly you could share the file and get someone more experienced to help?

I opened a previous version, and it both works and seems to be up to date. Thank goodness.

I tried opening the original file in Notepad, MS WordPad, and out of desperation, MS Word. Nothing. And in MSW's case, ninety-two pages of nothing. I've no idea what happened, but it seems I'm back in control now.

I will be saving in several different files as a precaution from now on.

Thanks everyone!
