Exit Alias' Disappearing
The Bitter Baron
16 Dec 2016, 20:54Really starting to get tired of having to go back and fix old content because it suddenly stopped working. Now I am finding that whenever I enter an alias for an exit, the alias disappears after I leave that window. I encountered the issue before, but it stopped occurring. Now it is happening again.
I only need to fix a dozen or so exits because of it, however until the issue stops occurring I cannot even do that. The game just does not save the alias name I type in, and so when I return to the interface after leaving it is just blank. Regardless of how many times I retype it in.

17 Dec 2016, 00:35Isn't the exit's alias set automatically when you set it up?
The only instance I know where the alias has to be entered manually is when you set the exit to 'non-directional'.
I've just added alias to some of my non-directional exits and they held for me.

17 Dec 2016, 08:06you may have caused an error in your code (or you'e found a bug), the wonderful life of making coding mistakes and trouble-shooting them, laughs, "welcome to coding", sighs. Most of your "programming" is spent troubleshooting your own coding, rather than doing the coding, lol. We may need to see your entire game code, to tell whether it's something you did or if there's a bug in the software's built-in coding. If it's something you did, then we can help fix it up for you. If it's a bug... you can try ticketing it... but Alex has been doing quest for a long time and needs to move on... if we get people to continue it, then they may look into fixing the bugs, but it'll be quite a wait for you.

But there isn't. I confirmed that for him in my post.

17 Dec 2016, 17:30Yeah I rarely have touched the games raw code, whatever the problem it is seems to be connected to Nondirectional exits in the games base coding. Either way, for future reference, closing and reloading the program seems to fix it apparently; whatever it is.

17 Dec 2016, 17:46Quest isn't the most stable piece of software I've ever used, so there's always that to consider.

17 Dec 2016, 18:57One thing I've noticed is that as soon as you have some kind of error, save your game and close it and then reopen it. It'll save you a lot of hassle.
