I can't seem to make it so that the text is blocked off at a certain point so that the map doesn't overlap the text. Does anyone know how to make this work?

I had this very same problem. What I thought of is that you add a static picture frame, and add to every room a transparent picture (or one that fits the color of the background) that fits the map area. Then turn on the map and it may overlap. I haven't tried this myself, however.
