I use the online version of Quest.

How do I disable the auto save feature? I deleted an object on accident, then the editor had an error forcing it to restart, then the deleted object was automatically saved! Auuuggggghhhhh!!!

The concept of "saving" work doesn't really make sense with an online editor. On your own computer, you can have a file that stays in memory somewhere until you save it to disk. But online, it's just as likely that every single click you make has the server load the file, make a tiny change, and save it again. Same for Google Docs (though that does include the change history in the saved file, so you have an "undo" button).

It would be nice if you could copy the game, then edit the copy.

Yeah, being able to create a backup would be really neat. You can save a local copy of a game, but then not upload it again, which makes it less useful.

I cannot see any technical problem with uploading a game, as long as it did not reference any custom libraries. It might be worth contacting Luis (manowar) and seeing if it is something he could implement. It would be very useful in some situations.

I was just asking about auto-save, but okay, if you want a back-up, you want a back-up, as long as I get my stop auto-save if the machine/system crashes feature.... I don't want this to happen again, again!

jmne,

The auto-save function is buried deeply in the code. (I've got Quest loaded up in Visual Studio 2015.)

In fact, most of the things that pose problems are dependencies for so many other scripts/functions, changing any one thing leads to NUMEROUS errors.

But, we can already download our game from the online editor. So, we could do that before adding in or deleting anything major. Then, if things went foul, we could upload the backup .aslx file we downloaded before changing anything, and BOOM. Super-UNDO.

I started a thread a while back.

(Is this the best way to contact Luis about such things?)
