Noob with simple question

20 Jul 2016, 20:15I am such a noob. I just created a tiny sample gamebook game and even though it says it will give me the .quest file, I found I had to upload it and agree to allow it to be used for free before it would create and allow me to download it as a .quest file. And now I have downloaded the file and don't really know how to get the .quest file to run. I double click on it and it says no application set to open this file and there are none in the app store. Maybe I just don't know how to run the file from my browser. On a Mac and using Chrome. Appreciate any help.

21 Jul 2016, 00:17- You can post your published file privately if you are just testing it or changing it into a .quest file.
- Have you downloaded the desktop version or are you using the online version. I think when I published my first game way back when, I didn't have to set which program ran the .quest file. I assume since I downloaded the desktop version any .quest file would be opened by the quest software/app.
It sounds like you are either missing the quest software on your computer or somehow .quest files are not automatically opened by the quest software. If you right click the .quest file, you should get options on setting the correct file to open your .quest file. Right?

21 Jul 2016, 12:03Thank you for responding. I think I've tried this once before long ago, and no, I probably do not have the quest software app on my Mac (since I'm sure this Mac is newer than the last time I used Quest). So that is probably it. If I wanted to sell my little adventure games, though, that would mean anyone who wanted to buy it would also have to install the Quest software? I thought that was not the case but things may have changed. Again, thank you! It is appreciated.

21 Jul 2016, 12:53There's no Quest software for Mac - yet! Version 6 of Quest will be split into two parts - Quest Player and Quest Editor, and there will be versions of Quest Player for Mac and Linux (as well as Windows of course).

21 Jul 2016, 18:34Okay. Thank you for that. I am pretty sure I had my old pc when I last used Quest (or it may have been the one before that even!) so no wonder I was confused. Thanks again! :)
