Help opening games

14 Aug 2022, 18:49Hello, I'm having trouble opening quest games offline. whenever I download a quest game it gives me a .quest file that the program won't read. I've tried changing it to a ASL file and opening it in zip and trying to play it from the inside. any help would be appreciated.

The other possibilities, that I know of, are too heavy a game file, which would not effect you if you are close geographically to Quest website, or have a superior connection, or internet or site difficulties that affect everyone to the same or varying degree. I have not been able to play online my own game for three days, but have downloaded the game, since, and played with no difficulty. I hope someone else knows more.

15 Aug 2022, 08:31The player should be able to open Quest games with no problems. The editor can't; those files are designed for playing, so have a lot of extra information (such as which editor panels should be displayed for each object) removed.
It may be possible to change the file extension to 'zip' and extract the file game.aslx
from it; but you would also need to add back the lines including the editor and language libraries. If you're trying to do that, there is a lot more information in other posts. However, in most cases it would be a better idea to contact the game's creator and ask them for a copy of the original ASLX file.

23 Aug 2022, 23:52Hi thanks for the responses. I might be opening the wrong thing then. I downloaded the player off the main page version 5.8.0 and ran the quest.exe inside. but it doesn't seem to recognize or be able to play any of the files I'm finding for games. everything I'm finding off the site and other places is .quest files? should I be using others or doing something to them?
