ok, i have finished writing the game, after 3 or 4 months, but i like it and i think it's finished. However I would like to make it a stand alone now and I can't seem to remember which files I need to include in the finished product. Does anyone know?

Depends on what you mean by "stand-alone". First option (assuming you have Quest Pro) is to compile all your ASL files and library files into one CAS file. If you are using sound/picture files you will probably then want to zip these and the CAS file into one archive for distribution.

THis will give you a single file distribution that anyone with a new enough copy of the Quest runtime installed can play.

Second option is (if you don't have QCompile) to skip the 'compile to CAS' stage above and distribute the resulting archive - this is obviously not so good.

If by 'stand alone' you mean a game that will run WITHOUT having to install Quest first, you are out of luck, you cannot do this. Quest, like most of the other Adventure writing systems, requires the player to install the run-time engine. The only slightly unusual feature is that Quest doesn't have a 'run time only' installation pack - you get all or nothing.

There is another option:
You can pay Alex to compile everything together into one installation package (probably with certain graphics and changes to the Quest interface if you wish) and that is your distribution.

Alternitively you put the game in a public place/into the archive and either give the latest Quest install file/direct them to http://www.axeuk.com, have whoever you want to play the game install Quest and there you have it, they can now play your game.

i once collected all the library files Quest uses, and made a setup file which installed the necessary library files, and Quest (without QDK or anything).

But it's illegal, so i don't recommend it :D

ok, i have quest pro, and i compiled everything into a cas file, including all sounds and graphics needed. However, when i bought quest i got the option to make stand alone games, which means, i name the cas file whatever i want to name the game, then rename quest to match the cas file (it's a special version of quest.exe alex sent me with my package i bought) but he told me i had to include other files with the distribution that will allow quest to run properly. All of those files, the new quest.exe and the cas file go into this nifty program he sent me that will zip them into a setup file for the end-user. But for the life of me i cannot remember what all files i was supposed to include other than the new quest, and my cas.
