Game Description

Why doesn't my Game description, which gives an intro to the Game, appear when I click Play ? Do I need to add anything in Set UP?

The game description gets used on the Text Adventurers web site, not in the game. If you look on the web site, click on any game. The image (if it has one) is to the left, this is the cover image. The description is on the right, with the "Play now" button underneath. Neither the cover nor the description are used in your game (and they are only used when you first upload your game; if you update it and upload again, the cover and description will not be changed).

To do what you want, go to the Scripts tab of the game object, and look at the Start script area at the top. Add a new script, Print a message, and put the text in there (best to have a new Print for each paragraph).

Many thanks for this reply - but when I click on the 'Gam'e object, in the Navigation Tree in the left hand window, the only Tabs are Setup Features Display and Interface. I cannot see one that says Scripts ... could you tell me where to find it please ?

Top right, next to the Help button is a Setting button. Untick "Simple mode". A whole bunch of tabs will appear!

When you create a game, you have the option of checking/ticking the 'simple mode' option, which is extremely bare bones of quest functionality, letting you learn and work with only the most basic of things in quest:

http://docs.textadventures.co.uk/quest/ ... _game.html (scroll down to the small 'Simple Mode' section/category)

Also, the Web/Online version is more limited too, along with the Game Book version, the full functionality of quest is in the desktop/offline version of the Text Adventure version.

--------

Also, over the course of quest versions, a lot of Tabs have been added... too many of them, cluttering up the GUI~Editor, so instead, many of the Tabs have been hidden, but there's toggle options to reveal/unhide them (or vice-versa, if you want to hide them again), found in:

'game' Game Object -> 'Features' Tab -> (see the various toggle options available, these are global game-wide options)

'whatever' Object -> 'Room Descriptions' and 'whatever' Tabs -> (see the various toggle options available, these are local options - specific to only this Object that you clicked on/chose)

------

the special 'game' Game Object, is for global game-wide settings/options and/or is "game cover box' information/picture-art about the game for a person looking in a game to try playing, on the quest game choice webpage and/or the quest program's 'create/select a game' screen, which is connected to the website, letting you see/select the games available.
