Screen layout Windows 10

I have still got nowhere trying to sort out my layout. I have quite a bit of game running OK on my desktop. As soon as I load it onto my surface pro 3 (with Windows10) the layout goes completely haywire. Photos change size completely and it is necessary to constantly scroll, making the whole thing unusable. I am reluctant to put in any more effort if I can't solve this as the game is going to be pretty unplayable on some systems. Any help would be greatly appreciated

What browser and browser version are you using the desktop and the Surface Pro?

I'm using the most recent firefox on both.

I have now tried running my little epic on a laptop which is runnung Windows 7. The result is the same . I still have to scroll (in both directions) to see the full screen. Secondary question ... Am I correct in thinking that if I wish to make this game available to others that they have to install Quest in order to run it. (It will be too big to upload as there are many photos ... currently 60 Mb) Any help would be much appreciated before I go much further as it wont be very attractive if players have to keep scrolling to ensure that they haven't missed anything

Yes, they'll need Quest to play it.

But if it's too big to upload, how are others going to access it anyway?

I'll probably set up my own web site. Or, if Possible put it onto disc. Since it is very much of local interest I would not expect tp publish it widely.

If you haven't done so already, get a photo file converter and decrease the quality on your pictures. You can save a ton of space at very little cost to game play. I had to do it for X2.

I used Pixillion image Converter from NHC. http://www.nchsoftware.com/imageconverter/

Thanks for that. I have now reduced the file size of pictures. However I will probably not be pursuing the game. As you will see from my posts I have had no success at all with trying to get a reasonable layout on different computers. What looks good on one is pretty hopeless on another and no one seems to be able suggest a way of improving that so I guess the software is not able to provide what I want. It's a pity as I have spent very many hours on it and it does look good on my desktop.. Back to the drawing board !

Can I ask why you're so concerned with making it look right on tablets and laptops?

I know trend and tech now means people are drifting towards these modern devices, but I would imagine the vast majority of your audience will be playing on standard desktops.

I also need to ask, what are you doing with the design that creates such a problem with different devices? I must confess I've not tried mine on anything other than my own desktop, but I'd be surprised to encounter the problems you describe.

You are probably right that most people will be using a desktop. I am just concerned that if it looks different on the two laptops that I have tried then it may look odd on some other desktops! I hve no idea what it is about my design that may be causing the problem , so I was wondering if it's just a quirk of Quest since pretty well all the progams I can think of look the same on the laptops as they do on the desktop.. Perhaps I should press on regardless !

Have you checked the games on the main site, to see if those get messed up in the same way? If they don't, then you can assume it's an issue with the design of your game and not Quest itself.

Good idea that , but having trawled through a dozen or so I haven't found any that use a significat amount of graphics. Mine involves exploring the village in which I live with photos of the locations on each page and the option to see it as it was in the past .. so lots of graphics. About 70 locations so far . Wondering if I am just being too ambitious?
