no 'define game' block error
Anonymous
14 Jun 2004, 01:33I am new to quest and I sent a game I created to a friend to try and when he tries to load it he gets the following error.
no 'define game' block
We are both brand new to the program and I don't have all that much in the game. Just a few takeable items etc.
The game loads fine on my system and some games that I've created have worked on his.
I appreciate any assistance.
Maybe a link to a more in depth guide to creating games would be great.
thanks,
Krumhog

14 Jun 2004, 11:15It sounds like the game has become corrupted in being sent. Check the file size - if there's no "define game" block at all, it could be that the file is empty. Try resending it - perhaps using a different method (e.g. if you sent it over an instant messenger program, try emailing it).

14 Jun 2004, 11:39I have been emailing him the files. Some work and some don't. I can try hosting the files on a site for him to download. I can't think of anyhting else offhand.
thanks
thanks

15 Jun 2004, 02:00I am not sure why the files were getting corrupted when sending via email but they seem to work fine when I host them on my site and he downloads them.
Thanks for the help.
Thanks for the help.

15 Jun 2004, 07:38Do you use any kind of compression or encryption software with your e-mails? Maybe whoever you're sending them to lacks compression/encryption and so the files aren't been e-mailed in the proper format.

15 Jun 2004, 23:30Well some of the files I sent worked and some did not. I thought it was something I was doing during creation because I was sending the file as I progressed and they were working fine then suddenly stopped. I'll just continue to host them on my site that why I can just keep it updated and not have to send out 10 emails a day.
