How to merge Gamebook and TA

This is a way to 'merge' TA and GB:

In TA mode, when ready to switch to gamebook, do:

1. Remove the panes and command line
2. Clear the screen
3. Print the 'page's text.
4. Print a few options, hyperlink it. Eg "Take the orange" will be hyperlinked to "take orange" (objects should be in a dummy room)
5. After choosing an option, clear the screen
6. Print text again etc.

When ready to switch,

1. Show the panes and command line
2. Clear the screen
3. Show room descriptions

This brings the power of text adventures into gamebooks; and you can have both in a single game. However, the game must be originally a text adventure.

Nice! A game within a game... ;)

Well, you can also use this to make a pure gamebook too!

I read TA (Text adventure) as T&A, and was immediately excited about your idea. I wasn't disappointed by what you showed, just surprised at my dyslexia.

What's T&A? Maybe with some luck that could be added too! :D

LOL, it would have to go in a PG-13 category.

How would one go about hyperlinking a piece of text? As in, what would the code be?

Text processors are a nice system to work with.

Thanks! Big help. I did some programming with RPG Toolkit 3, so I'm new to text-based stuff. Learning a new program is always fun, though.

Wait, why do you and Asyranok have a -nok at the ending?

On topic: Nothing.
