I don't want my player to know that they can 'kiss' the receptionist, but I want to set it up as a verb in case they try. How do I hide the verb so it does not appear as an option?

As of Quest 5.3, verbs are automatically to the menu. To prevent this, you can go to "game", Room Descriptions tab, then untick "Automatically generate object display verbs list".

This means the list of verbs in the menu is now entirely under your control. To change what verbs appear here, select the object, then the Object tab, and you can customise the Display Verbs there.
