pick up objects

19 Jul 2012, 19:06Hi everyone hope all is well, I need a little help if possible please. I know that you can take or get an object using the [default behavior] and just ticking the object can be taken box. But just say that you want to run a script first and then you want to be able to get or take the object afterwards. What would be the syntax for it, or how could I do this. Thanks to all Terry

20 Jul 2012, 07:09Thanks Pertex for coming to my rescue once again I thought of a lot of complicated ways to try but to no avail. I never thought about that, however it works to a certain degree. When I type in get object it shows up in the panes on the side but when I type in inventory it does not show up in there. I am making this game without the showpanes showing. I hope this makes sense. Regards Terry
and one for good luck

20 Jul 2012, 07:34Could you post a sample game with your problem? In my testgame the object is shown in the pane and when typing 'inventory'

20 Jul 2012, 08:26Hi Pertex I am sending you a sample game, although in the sample your scripting works great and when I type in inventory, but now you will find that it does not show the objects or the exits under the description of the room. Even though I have changed the game options. Thanking you Terry

20 Jul 2012, 08:51Oh yes I've forgotten about your scripting addition to the game so that would make sense. But what would cause my main game to ignore the object taken on typing inventory as opposed to the sidepanes showing it. It is not really detriment to the game it just would have been nice to put it in . Thanks once again for all you dedicated and hard work. Terry

20 Jul 2012, 09:27Hi Pertex sorry to bother you again, if I use the side panes is there any way that the background colour of the side panes can be changed Thanks Terry

20 Jul 2012, 11:02Hi Pertex thanks for your input but I think its too big a game to try to pick out a single anomaly. But thanks for trying anyway. Terry

20 Jul 2012, 12:30Hi Pertex please let me know if you read this. I have sorted the problem out, your solution was obviously correct but I could not understand why it would not show up in the inventory. I tried various different ideas even to the point of duplicating the object and it still would not tell me that I had it in my inventory. Until I discovered that I had ticked the not shown in scenery box. Deerrrr what an idiot a simple thing like that caused me so much hassel. But once again thanks for all your effort. Terry
and now i feel

20 Jul 2012, 12:51Then everything is wonderful. You solved your problem and Quest does not have a bug there
