Hi i am very new to these forums and i have had a problem with the quest software.

The program starts fine but whenever i try to create, load or play any quest it starts loading and this message pops up:

System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
at AxeSoftware.Quest.EditorControls.WFRichTextControl.SetUpBrowser()
at AxeSoftware.Quest.EditorControls.WFRichTextControl..ctor()

It then keeps loading but after hours and hours it still doesn't load.
Help!

That's a question for Alex, for sure. But have you tried reinstalling Quest? And if you can't use the download version, you can always use the web editor to create your game as well.

The RichText editor (which the error message is complaining about) uses Internet Explorer. As does the Quest player actually - when you play a game in Quest, does that work?

Which version of IE and which version of Windows are you using?

This may be the same problem that some other people are having, which I haven't yet been able to get to the bottom of - pretty annoying!

There are a few things to try in these forum posts:

Check that Internet Explorer itself is working correctly - does it display web pages properly, and what about when you trying playing one of the games on this site online? Also you could try disabling add-ons, maybe even try temporarily disabling any anti-virus software.

HUZZAH!!!

It lives! I re-installed internet explorer, restarted and now it works perfectly
thank you all for the help and support.

EDIT: Ok scratch that, i went on it for about 30 - 45 m creating, then out of the blue an error message pops up, something about a transaction not finishing so another could start. Anyway, it wouldn't let me save but i regularly save so not a problem, i thought, just close and reopen but i tried that and the old error message pops up whilst loading again and i am back to my original problem, i tried restarting, didn't work.

EDIT EDIT: Ok scratch THAT it is working again after uninstalling IE 9 its all good.
