English as a foreign language

Hi I am new here, and I am opening up my time with a question. :-)

I want to create some simple gamebook like games for my English classrooms. In the past I have used printed card for such exercises, but now I would really like to put a bit more tech into them. :-)

I've seen the 'Quest' adventure builder on your site. Is it appropriate for building games which give its players only a very limited array of choices? My students' interaction with the characters, rooms, objects, etc, would be restricted to choosing between two or three defined options.

At least in my initial attempts! :D

Indeed it is! Specifically, the new "gamebook" mode that was introduced in Quest 5.2 and the web editor. That's exactly what you need. :)

Excellent. I will have a bash at something this week and let you all know how I get on. :D

Sounds great! And if you run into any problems, don't hesitate to ask for help here on the forums (Quest 5 Forum would be best for that, btw.)

So here is the first version of UFO landing. :-)

It is completely bland. The language is very simple and there are currently no pictures, although I hope that the kids will help me add some. :-)

That's an excellent game for just getting started with Quest. Congratulations!

I hope to get some of my students to start drawing some pictures for it today. :-)

My first group of children were excited about the project. They each drew their interpretations of the texts they were given and their initial drawings are now incorporated into the game.

I will do the same with a couple of other groups next week. :-)

This is such a great idea! A good friend of mine is a teacher, and I think she would love to do something like this with her kids. :)

EDIT Played the game quickly - so cute! The drawings really add an extra personal touch.
