31 Aug 2011, 22:26Hi all
I am trying to put a mobile phone in a drawer, and once the drawer is opened the phone with show in the description and be able to pick it up.
I have read the basic explaination of how to do this but it still says "drawer can not be opened"
I am conmpletely confused as to what i am doing wrong. :/
Please can someone help?
Thanks

31 Aug 2011, 22:29I have created the desk in the room
Created a drawer in the desk
made the drawer a closed container
The option to open and close is ticked
and the children not shown until look or open is typed is ticked
Then created the phone as a child of the drawer

01 Sept 2011, 06:57I would guess that the room description is not picking up the drawer. One way to do this would be to have the desk as a container that can be opened as closed, and the phone in the desk.
If you want it specifically in a drawer, I would put the drawer in the room, not in the desk. That way the room description will find the drawer, see it is a container, and so find the contents. You might want to mark the drawer as scenery; I think it will then only get listed after opening, but you may want to play around and see.

05 Oct 2011, 17:56I've been creating various containers today, up to five items nested.
The desk and drawer is pretty straightforward.
Add object(desk) to room.
Select - Container.
Check - Open
Check - Hide until..
Check - List children...
Add object(drawer) to desk.
Select - Closed container.
Check - Can be opened.
Check - Can be Closed.
Check - List children.
Add object(mobile) to drawer.
All three items should be unchecked in set-up tab 'scenery' option.
Doing it this way, you will, of course, lose the 'surface' option for displaying desktop objects, the addition of a small table or filing cabinet to the room could remedy this.
