03 Dec 2003, 13:32Hey guys
Im fairly new here, just wondering about bringing out a new game based on The Lord Of The Rings By J.R.R Tolkien, its set when Saruman tries to take the Shire, after fleeing from the Ents. Please let me know if its any good or not

03 Dec 2003, 13:39well as LoTR is fairly roleplay related, i.e. it has dwarves, elves, halflings, humans, i dont see why it shouldnt be fun to make as a text-based game. However, i shall not play until i've seen the movie
so please dont post about the movie

03 Dec 2003, 13:53The battle for the Shire isn't in the third LOTR film. They cut it out as they felt it wasn't necessary.

03 Dec 2003, 18:11The game should be the best possible with as much detail, plot, and complexity as possible. If the game looks like it was slapped together in under a month (or 2, or 3) then it will not only make the game and creator look bad, but is also an insult to the books and movies. If you do plan to make this game, please, PLEASE, do a good job. Learn ASL as much as possible before attempting a feat such as this. Don't get me wrong, it's a great idea, but I've seen many LOTR games and I can say for a fact that none of them have been any good (with the exception of the PS2 games). Please consider this.

03 Dec 2003, 18:27Perhaps I should ask this question first, before I blab again:
What style of game is this going to be (i.e. RPG, classic, etc.)?
My previous comment still stands, although I'm sure someone might disagree.

I suppose I'd better not tell you that Gollum grabs the Ring off Frodo and falls into Mount Doom and thus destroys the Ring and saves the world? And that there's a big battle in Gondor where Aragorn kills the King of the Ring Wraiths? And that Gandalf leads the armies of Gondor and Rohan into an attack on the Black Gate of Mordor?
Gee. I hope you didn't read that. It'd really spoil the film for you if you did.

03 Dec 2003, 20:13What was the point of that? Just to ruin it for people that haven't seen the movie or read the book? Why can't you just LISTEN to Ste and NOT ruin it for him. Good thing I've read the book, though. Still, you didn't have to do that.
There... what a pitiful excuse for a flame...

03 Dec 2003, 20:47Where's the humor?
paul_one
07 Dec 2003, 00:59The humour is in the fact the person actually read it... No-one's forcing them (like you have to when you SAY something). They chose - by themself - to read it and that is the funny part.
I hate people who moan all the time saying it spoils it. Have you actually SEEN the movie? No. When you go to see it, did you imagine it EXACTLY that way? NO! How is just the basic outcome spoiling it? Bollocks does it spoil it.
