Windows 7

04 Apr 2010, 16:03I am coming up with an error message when trying to play quest games on windows 7.
I know it has to do with the 64 bit instead of 32.
I had the same problem with just basic and they were able to direct me to a solution.
I know it's a windows bug but if anyone could tell me how to correct it I would appreciate it.

05 Apr 2010, 17:07It had said error 339 (I think)
mci32.*** can't remeber the extension missing or registered improperly
something to that effect.
I fixed it though. I had to unistall quest and reinstall it somewhere other than program files.
It is not a quest problem it's a windows 7/Vista quirk.
I had to do the same thing with justbasic and I went back to see whatI did and it fixed the problem.
Someone explained it to me. Although I am fairly good at programming, I am woefully ignorant when it comes to
how windows actually functions so I can't remember what it is.
Windows 7/vista has a problem with 32bit help files as well and you need to go onto microsoft website to find the fix.

05 Apr 2010, 17:54Ok I found the thread containing the discussions from jb.
The 32 bit was concerning the help file.
I will copy what they posted about installing to program files here.
Wonderjudge.
It's a Windows restriction not JB.
It has been 'wrong' to write information in Program Files for a long time and MS started enforcing the rule beginning with Vista.
John
I see I did not know that it was a windows limitation, thank you very much for the information.
This is not a limitation, but a rule established with Windows 95.
The problem is that this rule was not enforced due to 16-bit backwards compatibility.
Sure it is easier to have all things together in one folder, but you will have to grant higher access rights to allow this, which in turn is heavily misused by virus and spyware.
