Selling games....

hey everyone,

Is it possible to sell the games that we create with the quest program? I assume I would need to purchase the quest Pro edition? Is it possible to make it where people can play the games that I create with out the quest program?

I assume all this falls with in the category of getting a customized version of the quest program?

Also is there any licensing that needs to be done regarding making commercial games? A couple of weeks ago I sent a e-mail through the website on the contact us page, and I have yet to get a reply. I assume the company never got it.

Thank you for your time,

Bigk

Yes you can sell games created with Quest, but you would need to get your players to download Quest from this website - obviously not ideal.

However if you have a custom build, you can integrate your game into one setup file. The Quest player can be rebranded, so your game will appear as one stand-alone application.

More details on custom builds are here: http://www.axeuk.com/quest/custom.htm

I have a similar quest, but rather than selling, licencing it out. Do you need quest pro? And is there anything else you need to do? Also do custom builds work for playing questnet games, or do you need a custom questnet too?

Actually I was wondering for a custom version that doesn't have menu commands but just being able to type in the commands like old school text adventures or just disabling menu buttons and what not.

Yes, that would be possible in a custom build - if you drop me an email to alex@axeuk.com with your requirements, I can get back to you with costs and timescales etc.

Sorry I didn't spot your post ealier elexxorine, but how do you mean licencing it out? Yes a custom build could be created for QuestNet games - I presume you mean a custom client (front end)?

I mean licencing it out, on a yearly payment kind of basis. A company is offering me a yearly licence fee as well as paying me for development of my game...

I guess at this point I'll have to wait for the custom build however I will probably need one when I have a game ready. Trying to come up with novel game idea's is a little tough these days.
