17 Apr 2018, 09:58Thanks for the replies! Does it bother people if puzzles exist that don't need to be completed to still progress in the game? Does anyone like social puzzles?

18 Apr 2018, 03:46Not solving all the puzzles, but still be able to finish is a good idea...
No reason to condemn the player because they could not finish a puzzle, but,
By using a scoring system you can tell the player how many was solved, and what the
outcome was of not solving the missed puzzles...
"You saved the princess, but the dragon decimated the kingdom..."

diversity of types and difficulties of puzzles

always have a way to progress and complete the game, don't let a puzzle prevent someone from enjoying your game fully (whether it's hints/helps/solutions-answers and/or cheats/bypass for the puzzles or whatever else such as already suggested in separating puzzles completely, making them meaningful by a score or whatever system, while not blocking game progress and completion)
(sweet spot is obviously: puzzles that aren't too easy and aren't too hard, lol)
