03 Apr 2005, 10:36Not that I'm a particuarly religious guy, but it took up over 10 minutes of the 30 minute news tonight, so I thought I'd bring it up. The pope has finally passed away, after battling illness and being the pope for 26 years!

03 Apr 2005, 16:0810 minute's!! wow, the USA is going all out...
Kind of hard to miss over here, I think it took up several hours of the BBC news, and basically 100% of all other news on the other 3 channels.
I just find it odd how people could cry etc over him dying, and saying how he was a "father" to them. And they say geek's are sad... *sigh*

03 Apr 2005, 17:47And they all ignore the fact that the guy's been hopelessly senile and a bit of a joke for the past 20 years. Ho-hum.
Reminds me of when Princess Diana died and all these thousands of attention seeking celebs came out saying how much her death had affected them, even though most of them had never even met her or gave a damn about her when she was alive. When is the press going to realise that the average guy in the street doesn't really care less about these people?

Yeah... Im not christian... and I agree with your point...
I know what I'm gonna say seems kinda off subject, But I've been thinking this... Its kinda funny how beliefs can get in the way of common sence...
