Open Source Software

31 Dec 2004, 08:52Since there's been so much talk on the forums lately about Open Source Software, and other software like Firefox that's taking over from the big guns, I thought I'd start a thread for you to tell us your favourite programs. Here's mine:
Audacity 1.2.2: for all your audio recording and mixing
OpenOffice.Org 1.1.3: For all you document and spreadsheet needs
Mozilla Firefox 1.0: The greatest web browser ever
WinAmp 5: A media player that's nearly as good as WMP (Not that I use it (yet!))
ZipGenius 5.1: A great zip program that supports formats like zip, cab, rar, czip (cryptozip), and plenty more.
XviD: The opposite of the XviD AVI encoder, it's the open source version.
and last but not least, MPlayer v4: How could I not include this? It's mine!
[EDIT] This seems like the right topic to put this in: does anyone know how to make plugins for Firefox?

11 Jan 2005, 01:37To Ste: I now use it because my copy of WMP is screwed, along with MPlayer of course. That doesn't mean that I like WinAmp.
To CW: Well, that rules me out then.
