17 Jun 2006, 04:53The forum has lost it's touch. I don't come on here very often anymore, but every time I come back DavidW is being a dick towards somebody, threads are being locked all the time, and some girl with an avatar which obviously isn't of her seems to be on some kind of power-trip.
I've been floating around since 2002. But, goodbye AxeUK.

I said so in the thread where you posted some of your music which was quite well done. I for one hope that you return. Some people have a hard time dealing with directness but you and I both know that's how it is.
Davidw has been bullying you for a while. He has bullied me and many others with his petty potshots. A lot of people were sick of it and it appears that he has not been around for nearly half a month. Why not come back to the forums and let's get things going again around here.

I've even asked the advice of a man in my office who has been on forums for a lot longer than me in order to make sure that I haven't made any silly mistakes.

Lucy I appreciate your ethusiasm... although I feel (not to start a flame war or what not) that certian MODs here (a few the other MODs in particular) don't really care about what goes on. It's quite obvious isn't it? I mean you one particular individual that can post what ever he feels and generally lambast all the members here without anyone stoping him. That individual has built quite a POWer base here with many sycophants. On the other hand a n00bie like that stu makes one to many posts and is banned outright. It seems rather lopsided IMO.
It seems that the role of MODship which should be as a fair and impartial person is not the case here. It's more of (and again not to start a flame war or what not) one person filled with self importance and his minions running amoke across the board on a quest for male dominancy. The rest are too lazy or just plainly don't care enough to do anything.
I'm not trying to piss off anyone off with this post. Just stating the facts as I see them and offering an opinion.... I'm just trying to save you some headaches lucy....You're just going to be beating your head against the wall here... no one here gives a d@#n.

Definately.
Although, I've been moderating forums for years now, it seems that forums without a chat section are less likely to become corrupt by useless fights etc. If there isn't a reason given to members to chat about nothing other than the software (Or purpose of the site), then they'll usually keep on topic.
It's easier to moderate a community without a chat section, but if there's a chat section, you usually spend more time moderating that, and miss out important things that actually need to be moderated in the other forums.
In this case, moderators usually ignore chat forums, and let it all fire out, which makes the community look bad, and gives people reason to argue in other forums.

There are pleanty of chat sites and forums for general chat and flaming, this forum doesn't need one. If it lacked a chat forum, people would surely (or atleast mostly) stay on topic, providing the moderators kept strict rules on the other forums.

True, although I'm not sure phpBB supports this by default, but i'm sure there's a modification somewhere.
You should talk to Alex, being a moderator yourself the idea would probably be approved.

06 Jul 2006, 15:01From my standpoint, I have to say that Davidw has sat here for quite some time thinking that this place was ripe with supporters for his tyrannic rampage that has lasted for God knows how long. It looks like the tables are turning now, however.
I know, Tr0n, you have mentioned that Zelimos is the forum scratching post and all that. He doesn't seem to mind so much but Davidw, like many egomaniacal hatemongers doesn't know where the line is. He crosses it constantly with random barbs and petty innuendo. His payoff is what he perceives as a win through intimidation of another person.
I liken this to having a huge steaming pile of crap in the hall that everyone has simply stepped around for ages. One day, someone comes along and says "hey, there is a steaming pile of crap on the floor. we need to clean it up". Then action is taken and the crap gets cleaned up and then it's a better place overall for that having happened.

Steve if you look back I tried to be friends with davidw, or the bare minimum not in a hostile posting situation. He is the one that's attacked me. I have no bad feelings towards anyone else. I've noticed that Tr0n is definately a fan of davidw and has proven time again that he is. I offer no ill will towards that fact. I just realize that he is a bit, for a lack of better words "heavy handed" whilst MODerating my posts. I can accept it. no qualms. I like tr0n... reguardless of the fact.
Steve I have no problems with you. How's your games coming along? I got a humdinger in the works. It's gonna be a great game.

No I dont see it as a bash. I see it as a challenge. If my game is finished in time I will enter it. If not I will enter it next year. Either way I will submit it... rest assured. It's magnicificant. If you say something about someone whether you're speaking to them or not, that person will respond....and then you respond...and then they respond.... (like how Tr0n has said several times) If you don't say something about that person in the first place, there's nothing to respond to. Well thanks. My full version of King's Quest V has been done for a few weeks but my beta-tester wanted to pass it along to his programming friend before I post it on here. I don't want to toot my own horn but I'll say this though, if you put a lot of time into a game creating it, your work will definitely show in the end.
I am also working on Get Out of the Really Big House [currently working title]. It's the sequel to my first-ever game on Quest....well first game ever anywhere actually!
I started another game called Bonesaw. It's a comedy/horror. Strange combo but I think it'll be good. If I get cracking, I might be able to submit it in the IF contest. I don't know if I'm going to be able to make it though. We'll see.

I started another game called Bonesaw. It's a comedy/horror. Strange combo but I think it'll be good. If I get cracking, I might be able to submit it in the IF contest. I don't know if I'm going to be able to make it though. We'll see.

That annoys me a bit. I am trying to be fair and impartial, and despite the fact that I have been arguing with davidw (if you can call being insulted and responding to it "arguing"), I have also taken action against the others when they have done or said things which I think are out of line.
If davidw keeps putting himself in a belligerent position towards me, I have no intention of letting him walk all over me. If he starts acting like a gentleman he may find that I am much nicer in return. But that doesn't make me biased.
Ask The Unknown or O Vaughan if they think I am on "their side" - they have both had things locked, edited or deleted by me, and I won't put up with their crap any more than I will davidw's.

I think what this is about is Davidw being in search of an entourage of sycophants. What I have referred as his "reign of tyranny" is actually a scenario where we have a madman in search of an army. His strategy of enrollment has thusfar been to pick out a few "marks" (myself included) and harangue us into submission or maybe as in Zelimos' case run us off altogether. Zelimos has returned but not without giving Davidw the satisfaction of a resignation speech. A trophy, if you will.
Now that I have unraveled Davidw's diabolical plot it will be interesting to see what plan he implements next from the Sociopath's Handbook.
