The Tome of Power

09 Jun 2012, 09:41I would like to show my first game made in Quest!
The Tome of Power is an adventure game where you are in a long abandoned (or so you think) ziggurat.
You are "Mr. Smiles" a world famous adventurer looking for the "Tome of Power".
The game is mainly linear but the last few choices you make determine the ending.
Please notify me of any spelling mistakes in the game, and any ways I could improve the game.
Anyway, the game can be found at http://www.textadventures.co.uk/review/584/.
Have fun!

09 Jun 2012, 18:47I just died at the tough guard. Really nice sound effects
There are 2 things I found:
You get this message "Thank you, there is a button on the wall. Press it." but you can't "press button". Perhaps you should add this verb.
And in the library you get the message: "You are in You are in a Library."

10 Jun 2012, 06:37Ok, here are some of the things I found. A little bit nit picky for some points, but since you asked I tried it and found them. However, there are some strange ones like dead guards being alive and there being two Easts...
The very first sentence says “You are in You are in the Entryway .” So you have “You are in” twice and the period for what ever reason is spaced far out.
Small room to East and a large tablet... “It says”, is it telling you or are you reading it? (Probably ignore that one...)
N, N, N “You can see “a” Statues”
“You can see “an” doorway...”
You have the helmet, even wearing it, but it still tells you something shiny at the bottom of the pool when you relook at the room.
After killing the snake and looking at the room again, it says it is still there and hissing and blocking your path.
You can see “a” Books and “a” Soldiers.
Two soldiers die, but one bullet shot is sounded. (Not really a big deal, either you got lucky and shot both or the sound was just for experience and you did not want to sound it twice.)
After killing both soldiers and relooking at room it says they are still there and you should still “sneak” by them, but they are dead...
“You are in You are in more of the library.” Same as before...
You can not wear the uniform, but you use it and the Tough Guard thinks you are a recruit...
“excelent” is excellent
The Strange Guard which is Ms. Grin, after the Tough Guard arrives from the stone statue coming to life and killing everyone and the Tough Guard blows it up, she tells you to talk to the Tough Guard or be discovered. But if you talk to her again she pulls you to the side as if for the first time before the Tough Guard arrives and before the Stone Guardian was brought back to life...
After killing the Tough Guard either way and then relooking at room you can speak to him and kill him again and or lose...
After the Count is dead you can speak to him again and the whole sequence repeats...
You can go out and speak to Ms. Grin again and her speech changes, and mentions about the pistol, but you can talk to the Tough Guard again who is still dead and you can choose what you want to do again.
If you choose to go East again a screen pops up asking which “East”... both Easts go to the same room.
“Civilisations” should be civilizations
But in all seriousness I rather liked this game. It was very quick though and I kept trying to wear the uniform opposed to simply “using” it on the Tough Guard to no effect. But the sound effects were a really nice touch and I love the ending music. I am actually looking forward to the next game in the series if there is one. I actually like the powers you receive at the end. I gave the book, but now I wish I would have given the stew. Will you start off the next game by being asked what you gave the statue to begin with and then having only those special powers and what ever weapons you find? That way different rooms could be explored and different puzzles solved and or you wont be able to see everything since you will only have certain powers. It will give it extra replay ability!
Ps... Don't blame Ms. Grin. Classic!
