If you wish to sign up for the first alpha test please reply to this thread.
I will most likely be updating this thread will updates, but also on my site: DePawity: HavenHold Page

25 Sept 2006, 20:11you can still use my server for hosting if you can't get yours working yet.

25 Sept 2006, 20:14I think there's an internal firewall on the router, which is passworded and my brother in law will not remove it as he very over-secure. Thank you' Zelimos... I hope I can use you for a test server too?

28 Sept 2006, 09:47The next test release of the game will be for the stats and fighting system. Then I shall create a moderate sized world with a few quests and a dungeon or two and hold the first Alpha.
Yes Alpha 1.0 is not that far away. It'll be private, so you'll need to sign up for it by telling me you're interested. I HOPE to get it out before my birthday as a kind of present to myself for all my hard work since late last year, my coding skills were very poor then and there were several failed game attempts, but that's all behind us now and my skills are up there will the elites.
My birthday is 33 days aways, so wish me luck!!
If you wish to help, please let me know, you name will go on the credits, I promise. I'm not really looking for programmers to help me, Tron has offered to check my codes for me, I'm looking for mappers, people with cool quest ideas, that sort of thing.

I can probably run atleast 5 QuestNet server simultaneously without any lag. Just tell me when you need my server up and i'll put it up for you. I have 2 jobs now so it's probably best to email me or leave me a message on MSN if I leave it online.
I already told you how to get passed that firewall password. Just reset the router by pressing the reset button with a pen, and leave the password blank. Then find the page where it has like options to disconnect one of the local IP addresses at a certain time (192.168.x.x where x is whatever numbers).
To find your local IP address goto Start -> Run -> cmd -> ipconfig
It should be something like 192.168.1.60 (the last 2 numbers can be anything from 2-99 I think).

28 Sept 2006, 21:07At least, that's until her brother loads up his saved config file and just kickes her off the net for good....
... yeah, killer!
Why don't you look into UPnP? Write a little application which forwards all incoming connections to port 10000 to the computers' IP address?
.. If the router doesn't support UPnP it's rubbish, as they have for years (mine's 4-ish).

29 Sept 2006, 03:34My parents used to do it to me 1 or 2 years ago. They wouldn't even dare mess with my internet now... lol

29 Sept 2006, 16:27Lolz, that's funny....

29 Sept 2006, 18:04Oh, plus the fact that a router holds the internet user/password.
Resetting get's rid of that.
D'oh!

30 Sept 2006, 17:51Find a spare network card, and change it.

01 Oct 2006, 18:32And that solves the username/password settings!?
Changing what MAC is connecting to the router?
Hell, that could even stop you connecting to the router as he could (and *should*) have locked down which machines can connect to the router by using MAC addresses.
That way, an IP address is assigned to your MAC address and that way he can be sure that only your PC would be blocked by his access rule.

02 Oct 2006, 10:04It's a private network which needs passwords to even just connect to. If I changed the card I wouldn't be able to get in anyway.
But I don't mind giving the game to Zelimos so he can host it, as long as he'll keep it running for a long time during the alpha tests because some of the quest players live in america so they'll be playing while we sleep.... lolz.

02 Oct 2006, 10:13I have 3 computers, one of which I can dedicate to it.
It's funny, resetting my router allowed me to clear the password on my router settings and access the admin controls.
Changing my network card a couple of years ago allowed me to stay on the internet, as the network card used a different local IP.
Well, either way it's no problem. I can host still.

09 Oct 2006, 20:34I haven't worked much on the game lately, mainly making maps, stories why the world is as it is, that sort of thing. Anyway I've made a forum for it: http://z10.invisionfree.com/HavenHold/ . Register there to sign up for the alpha tests. I'm also having a race creation competition.
22 to go...

11 Jan 2007, 14:33Been a long time since I've reported on the gam,e lots of stuff has happened... New forum: http://s8.invisionfree.com/HavenHold/ And I'm going to be paid $200 by gamesiteonline.com for letting them host it and put their name in the credits, easiest $200 I ever made. Anyway, check the forum for most updates, the alpha should be out soonish (crossing fingers for febuary, no realy), battle code's >50% and I've almost finished working out the plot lines and such... haha!

11 Jan 2007, 20:12I'd have let you host a website on my webserver. Good luck though.

11 Jan 2007, 20:25Thanks, dude. I'll prolly need you for the testing...

20 Jan 2008, 22:27For those still looking at this. I've made a new website, kindly hosted by Gameboy. The site is working nicely but the forum is currently giving me grief. All updates will be posted on the website. If anyone has any questions they can post them here.
I'm currently trying out some new ideas for the way battles are done, with ideas of locations hitting, timers verses turns, etc.
I'll be needing Alpha testers once 1.6 is ready. I'm not giving any date on this as I know I won't make it. Hopefully some time before I'm 105
. I am aiming for 1-2 hours of game play on release, it won't just be testing the engine and features but the idea of the game, concept, etc for workability. If you're interested, let me know. I'm looking for about 3-6 people for testing.
